We’re re-opening the pool for a special Swim-a-thon event on Saturday, September 23rd, from 1-3pm to support our non-profit partner, No More Under, and would love to see our member families and off-season adult lap swimmers dive back in to support this great cause!
This year, we have a community goal to raise $3000 in support of NMU’s mission of water safety for all!
NMU has suggested VR members and off-season lap swimmers consider making a flat donation to the fundraising campaign instead of trying to match a specific donation (e.g. $1) per intended number of laps swam. This approach has proven successful in previous events and will allow our swimmers to just enjoy the laps without having to do any math when they get out of the pool. We’ll still keep a tally of laps, though, for individual prizes and let everyone know how far we collectively swam as a community following the event! To simplify the process, you can make a donation here online ahead of time.
No More Under will have their team on-site to support the event and we’ll also be grilling up hamburgers and hotdogs (with veggie options) for our hungry swimmers all afternoon! Plus, we’ll have prizes for the most laps swam in both adult and kid categories!
This is an all-ages event and we’ll have lanes set aside for kids (and families) and also lanes set aside for adults. We encourage you to make your donation ahead of time, as we’ll be on the honor system for lap count, which you can tally at the office as you exit the pool grounds.
